4/5/6

Welcome to the 4/5/6 class page for 2024.

Welcome back to Term 2!

This term, like any, is flying by! We have been learning lots and our confidence is growing by the minute. We have been using primary and secondary sources to collect research and summarise it using our own words. We are getting very good at working in groups and presenting research to our fellow peers. Look at us go!

These brilliant students took part in their second debate for the term. They successfully won their first debate against Scotts Head Public School and the second debate was won by Frank Partridge VC. We can't wait for the third debate to take place on the 19th of June against Macksville Public School.  Good luck debaters!

We have been exploring historical weather events and conducted experiements making our own tornado. It was so much fun.

What a brilliant start to the year. 4/5/6 have been busy studying Tim Winton's novel, Blueback. We have been creating our own Blueback through the use of foil, string, glue and sharpies. These are going to be displayed in the Macksville Show.

Literacy mornings in the 4/5/6 class are busy. Miss O'Toole introduced us to Bananagrams. We have to make as many words as possible from the 21 tiles we collect... just quietly, we are getting pretty good!

Mathematics has been all about Place Value. We have been playing a game where we get given a number (we don't know the number) and we move around the room asking our peers mathematical questions to try and work out what our number is.

Art! We are exploring the theme, identity. We began by looking at abstracts artists, Kandinsky and Picasso and how their use of colour creates emotion. We are experimenting with colours to create an artwork that will show parts of our identity.

Peer Support Camp.

4/5/6 had an awesome time at Scotts Head for their annual Peer Support Camp. Students were accompanied by Mr Hall, Mrs Peachman and Miss O'Toole. We had so much fun, even in the rain!
