Minties Mania for Education Week

Stuarts Point Public School put a sparkle into Education Week by having a 'Mintie Day' focusing on Literacy and Numeracy activitites.

Staff , students and parents were encouraged to come to school dressed as a Mintie or wearing white, red or green. Some came covered in Mintie wrappers, wore Mintie hats or carried large minties as necklaces. Students were allowed to eat Minties as they worked on literacy or numeracy problems, some involving the measurement of a Mintie wrapper, others using the information on the package.

Parents also took part in a numeracy workshop to discover how their children learn maths today. This session was run by Regional Partnerships Officer, Vicki Ford who gave the parents lots of ideas on how to explore maths at home with their children.
